We hope you didn't spend too much time looking for Bugaria on the map because it isn't there. Bugaria is an imaginary country developed by the creative mind of Karl Eriksen. This is where computers go to retire and where parts are harvested so that computers can live on as "Computer Bugs". By association you would think the name "Computer Bugs" would be something we should all be concerned about and to most people the term computer bug has a sinister meaning. Thanks to Bugaria this has now changed. The "Bug" in these computer bugs is the creepy crawly type with many legs and this bug is used as the theme throughout the collection. Karl lives in Cape Town which is in South Africa where he manufactures each and every computer bug by hand. This is what makes them so unique and different, so start your collection today.
You are probably wondering how Computer Bugs started. Well Karl came home one night and accidently knocked his computer off his desk. When it hit the floor it burst open displaying a large array of parts. So now what do you do with all these parts? Most of the parts were micro chips and connectors and the more they were studied and the more good South African wine was consumed, the more they looked like bugs, the creepy crawly ones. This is when the creative genius of Karl Eriksen came to the fore or was it the wine? The connectors represented arms and legs and other parts looked like eyes and other bug parts. The Computer Bug was beginning to form. The next step was to examine the word “bug” and it was soon realized that this word can be linked to so many others. For instance, travel bug, bed bug, love bug, etc. Now the Computer Bug theme was born. Each of our items has the word “bug” incorporated into it as a play on words. For example, Bruce Springsteen becomes Bruce Bugsteen, Ozzy Ozborne becomes Ozzy Ozbug, and an Ophthalmologist becomes a Bugthalmologist and so on and so on. Each Bug is made by hand and no two are exactly alike.
